Key Information about our class
P.E. Days - Monday and Tuesday - Please can the children have the correct kit in for these days.
Reading, spelling and times tables - We encourage the children to dedicate a little bit of time each night to these activities as they are the foundation of the literacy and numeracy learning that takes place in the classroom. The children need to only spend about 10-15 minutes a night on each of these activities.
Homework Diaries - When you listen to your child read, please sign the 'Tonight I Must' box to show this. Please can diaries have a parental signature every Friday.
Learning Logs - Homework in Dosbarth Mynydd is set using a learning log. Children are to complete a literacy and numeracy task, as well as chose an activity from the topic grid. . Pupils are encouraged to research in detail and present their learning in a variety of ways. They are expected to complete approximately two pages in their book. We encourage the children to do a little on this project every night and to fit their homework in around their clubs and after school activities.
Class Dojo points –The children get to collect class dojo points through the week for hard work or great behaviour. This year we have also discussed having a class reward for the class total of Dojo points. These rewards will include extra free time or a longer break. The dojo is a great way of keeping in touch if you have any questions you would like to ask me. You are also able to see how well you child is working in the class by checking the points they get each week.

Bore da Pawb,
Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant! Happy St David’s Day!
Well done on all you hard work last week everyone! This week we will continue with our work on our class reader, Holes but I thought at the start of the week, we would look at St David and write a poem about Wales and the symbols of Wales. There is a worksheet to guide you through the Hwb playlist. In order for the poem to be of good quality, take two days to complete the activities and write the poem.
This week in Maths I thought we would have a look at factors and multiples as well as prime and square numbers. The lessons use BBC Bitesize and I will go over these types of numbers in our Teacher Time sessions. We are now also starting our new RE topic, Death and New Life, which focuses on our preparations, during Lent, for Easter. This week we will focus on Ash Wednesday, which took place in half term.
I have changed the topic grid for the next fortnight to give us a little break from the Rainforest one. This topic grid focuses on all things linked to Wales! Please send me any pictures of the work you do! Remember the Menter Bro Ogwr competition closes on the 3rd March so get any entries to me by this date.
Have a great week – remember you can contact me any time during the week and I will see you at our Teacher Time sessions at 9.30 and 1.00pm.

Home Learning - 22nd Feb. - 26th Feb. 2021
Morning All,
I hope you have had an enjoyable half term break!
Please find our learn pack for this week. In English we will start our new class reader, one of my all time favourites, Holes by Louis Sachar. I have also included some topic work on the different layers in the rainforest and some science work on the different parts of a flower.
In Maths we will continue to practise our work on calculating angles. This time in quadrilaterals and opposite angles. There is also some further work in our RE topic of Unity for you to complete.
Remember Teacher time is now everyday at 9.30 am and at 1.00pm. Don't worry if you aren't able to make all the sessions. In your learn pack I have given you a suggested timetable to complete our work linked to these sessions. Hopefully the input will help you more fully with the task but you should be able to complete them even without the input. Again please do not worry though if this timetable doesn't work for you - just do what you can! If you are struggling with something please let me know. You can email me at murphyb2@hwbcymru.net, dojo me or message me via Teams.
Keep up the hard work and stay safe!
